How to Reach?

Assam is a state that’s quite easily accessible from all the other states and even said to be the gateway to the Northeast.
You can reach the airport in Guwahati which is Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi Airport. It is located 25 km from the city center and you can either take a taxi or a bus to reach your destination.
If you are planning to reach Assam by train, then get down at the railway station in Guwahati which is well connected to all the major states in India.

Taking roadways in Assam is quite good and recommended as you will be able to travel to even the smallest corners with ease.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Taste The Best Aromatic Tea!

-Airport to Hotel Transfer.

Check in your local homestay next to the river in the Fancy Bazaar area, offering extensive views of the water and access to some of the main sights in town.

Later in the evening head to visit the tea estates in Assam that are like no other. They serve the best aromatic tea that you would have never tasted before. Okay, forget about the tasting. But just taking a stroll in any of these tea gardens itself can be more than amazing. Some of the top tea gardens are Manohari Tea Estate, Nonoi Tea Estate, Almari Tea Estate and so many more. Day 2 - A Boat Ride On The Mightiest River Of India

A ride in this river provides you breathtaking scenery, with a view of the Himalayas in the north, which makes it more majestic. If you are lucky you will be able to catch a glimpse of a group of Gangetic Dolphins playing in the holy waters of the river.

Kamakhya Temple
On the banks of Brahmaputra River, the temple was originally erected in the 8th century, but much of its present appearance dates to the 17th century. A cruciform base topped with a hemispherical dome is the main feature of the temple's hybrid style. See the panels and niches with sculptured images of Hindu gods and goddesses, then descend the narrow stone staircase to get to the small and dark inner sanctum, where the Mother Goddess is worshiped in the shape of Yoni (womb). Apart from pilgrims and tourists, monkeys and mountain goats are regular visitors of this site.

Day 3 - Spotting Wildlife

Assam is one place that is well known for its national parks. This is the reason why wildlife lovers flock here to spot the best of wildlife. It stands as home to a large number of explored and unexplored places where you can spot some rare species of fauna.

Spot include swamp deer, elephants, Bengal foxes, sloth bears, leopards and many more. A place of such beauty had been recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in the year 1985. One of the best things that you can do here is taking a safari to explore this park. If you want to experience wildlife at its best, then you must visit Kaziranga National Park.

Day 4 - Rest Up For The Day Or Explore River Island Of Majuli

Majuli is the world’s largest river island; unfortunately, it is eroding away, though extreme measures are underway to help its survival. Take a ferry ride across the mighty Brahmaputra — by far the best way to explore the areas in and around Majuli.

The people on this idyllic island, who are called ‘Misings,’ are really warm and friendly, and it is such a meaningful and memorable experience to observe how they live their lives simply.
Never miss the experience of sitting on the island bank facing the Brahmaputra with the abundance of greenery behind you.
On a clear day, it is easy to spot some rare species of birds stopping by for a dip, making it an ideal spot for bird lovers.

Day 5 - Tradition Day

A trip to Assam is incomplete unless you have witnessed the dance and culture of the local people. Bihu is a form of dance performed by the locals, both men, and women, and is very classical and elegant. Also, it is a must to drink the local spirit “lau pani” or rice beer, which is made by brewing rice and has a sweet flavor to it.
