The name Siem Reap means the 'Flat Defeat of Siam' (today's Thailand) and refers to the centuries-old conflict between the Siamese and Khmer peoples.
Drive to the famous temples of Angkor (Stand in awe before the legendary temple of Angkor Wat, admire the sculpted façade of Bayon temple, and discover the atmospheric jungle temple of Ta Prohm ) and to wander the ancient ruins, or cruise through the rice fields to experience life in one of the local villages.
Stop at a restaurant to grab some traditional Cambodian food for lunch, or take a boat tour on Tonle Sap Lake to see the houses on stilts.
