There’s nothing quite like the experience of catching one of nature’s forces, the breaking wave. You are able to harness that power to speed you along the wave and perform a variety of manoeuvres.

Varkala is popularly known for its serene beaches and beautiful views. Varkala beach is the only place in southern Kerala where cliffs are found adjacent to the Arabian Sea. These cliffs are of tertiary sedimentary formation, and named by geologists as Varkala Formation. Enjoy the majestic views of these cliffs adjacent to the ocean and get your surfing lessons with our certified local experts.

How to Reach?

By flight

There is no direct flight connectivity to Varkala. The nearest airport is in Thiruvananthapuram, around 40 km away from the same. Taxis are easily available from the airport to Varkala.

Nearest Airport: Trivandrum International Airport (TRV) - 36 kms from Varkala

By road

Regular bus services ply to and fro the city of Varkala. They operate on a daily basis, whether day or night, from places like Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Alappuzha, etc. You can also take shared taxis or cabs for the same route.

By train

Varkala is well connected to the rest of India by railways as well. Varkala Sivagiri Railway Station is the principal railway junction serving the city of Varkala. Local transport like autorickshaws and taxis are easily available outside the railway station.

How To Prepare?

Wear the right swimsuit/wetsuit/ Board shorts are a great warm weather option.

Carry your own water bottle - you need to drink lots of water to keep yourself hydrated.
Eyewear: Any form of aviators or wayfarers. A must-have, again.
Sunscreen: The sun is unforgiving sometimes. And if you really don’t want to end up like a baked potato in the evening, throw one of these in your bag.

Aurah is the perfect example of 'If you want something, do it yourself. We love a good power yoga session and grabbing some smoothie bowls after. If there is some music to vibe with it, even better! Where can we do this in Cochin with like-minded people was the question? To no one's surprise, we drew a blank. When a google search for a wellness retreat showed the nearest one to be 500kms away, we knew we had to make it happen ourselves. So here we are with Aurah, the Sunday Social we all deserve".
